New Perspectives on Canid Behavior Beyond the Fields We Know
Whether you love wolves, dogs, or other animals, this weekend will offer you a way to deepen your appreciation of what the natural world can teach us about our relationships with other beings. This seminar will offer you a conceptual framework, as well as practical skills and techniques for looking at and living with canines, which will deepen your appreciation for and understanding of the canines. The seminar is led by Suzanne Clothier, animal trainer and author of “Bones Would Rain from the Sky”, and Pat Goodmann, ethologist and curator of wolves at Wolf Park. Participants will: -Improve observation skills -Learn about nuances of behavior -Shift perspective -Learn new ways of thinking and seeing
Activities are designed to broaden your approach to and understanding of canine behavior, including: -Wolf Soap Opera, a role playing game -Interacting with wolves -Anticipating behavior- ‘what comes next?’
The seminar will synthesize information drawing from fields as diverse as physiology, neurobiology, neuropsychology, cognitive science, anthropology, ethology, biology, ecology, hence the name ‘beyond the fields we know.’
Included in Seminar Ceramic Wolf Park Mug Binder with information from Wolf Park and from Suzanne Ethogram food and drinks (3 lunches, 2 breakfasts, 1 dinner, plus snacks) Wolf park one year single membership SCHEDULE Seminar will begin on Friday at 9am and end on Sunday at 5 pm. Saturday and Sunday will start early with a wolf watch at sunrise The schedule is very open and flexible, with a combination of lectures, activities, and animal time alternating through the day. Evenings participants can attend Howl Night or be on their own. Participants will see the Wolf and Bison demonstration on Sunday from the truck in the bison field. A great view, plus photo opportunities.
This seminar will include hands-on interaction with our wolves. Participants must be over 18 years of age in order to enter the enclosure with the wolves.
CANCELLATION POLICY Wolf Park reserves the right to cancel a seminar if there are fewer than 5 participants registered as of 30 days before the start of the seminar. In the case of cancellation, we will refund registration fees in full, or the participant can choose to transfer into a different seminar.
